At 8,000 feet, the Town of Mammoth Lakes, sits nestled at the base of Mammoth Mountain, surrounded by jagged peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Numerous creeks, and streams, wind their way through grassy meadows and aspen groves, and provide for a majestic, and breath-taking landscape. This year-round resort town hosts visitors from all over the word who come to explore and enjoy Mammoth’s endless outdoor playground and activities (skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain-biking, camping, back-packing, cycling, golfing, horseback riding…you name it!) Visitors come to get lost in the beautiful natural wonders of the Eastern Sierra. Yosemite National Park is a short distance north, and the greater Los Angeles area is about a 5 hour drive south.
The star of Mammoth Lakes, is Mammoth Mountain Ski Area (MMSA), founded in 1953 by Dave McCoy, which sits proudly at 11,059’ and boasts over 3,500 skiable acres, with 3,100 of vertical descent. Mammoth Mountain has one of the longest ski seasons in the United States, running, on average, from early-November until Memorial Day or later. Throughout the summer season, MMSA offers mountain-biking and many other activities.
Incorporating the great outdoors into all aspects of life is something that all residents, visitors, and second-home owners share alike. Live Mammoth, dream big.
